Born and raised in Toledo, Spain my music career began at age 17 when I became the lead singer of a group called “Los Toes”, in which we toured for 3 years together throughout the regions of Spain, the Balearic Islands and parts of France. Soon after, I was drafted to the military service in the African Sahara Desert, in which I was able to save my life through my musical talent. This is also where I learned to play the bagpipe.
Upon completing military service, I returned to Toledo where I became incredibly ill. The doctor recommended that I move to Malaga in hopes of regaining my health. Luckily, I did get better and was able to form my own group called “Los Siricos”, in which we played together in many of the best hotels & venues of Spain.
After 4 years, I was offered a position to play with one of the best groups of “La Costa del Sol” named “Holiday Band”, in which we toured the Canary Islands and other places of high category. It was in the Canary Islands where I met my wife, who I have been married to for the past 38 years. Coming from two different worlds, I followed her to the United States speaking only Spanish, with a guitar in one hand and suitcase in the other. Knowing no one & nothing I somehow managed to find a job in a Chicago restaurant. After a year, I formed a Flamenco group called “Los Españoles” and played together for 2 years until I decided to manage my career as a solo artist.
Ever since, I’m humbled to say that I have raised my family of six well with this lifestyle, having the opportunity to play in many private events, restaurants, five start hotels, country clubs, wineries and even cruise ships in many cities and countries around the world, including Canada, Panama & Mexico. I’ve performed both for television shows and public radio in many of those places. I’ve also had the privilege of performing with many famous artists of the time such as: Jose Greco, Damaso Perez Prado, Leo Dan, Dyango, Alberto Cortez, Lolita Flores, Antonio Molina, Raphael, Dani Daniel, Lole & Manuel, Antonio Machin, Carina, Camilo Sesto and many more
I have been in Spring, Texas for over 25 years. Many love my music because it takes them to a place they have never been to before. And it is a passion, that I would be honored to share & continue wherever I’m at. My current music style includes many genres such as flamenco, folk, and popular American & Mexican classics.
Sincerely,
Tomas Ballesteros
